The Feast of the Sacred Heart

  On Friday, June 3rd, we will celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This is our parish feast day, and it always falls on the Friday after the Feast of Corpus Christi. We will have a Corpus Christi procession on that feast day, May 29th . The Feast of the Sacred Heart began with Jesus’ revealed instructions in a vision to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in the 1670’s, in her Convent of the Visitation in Paray-le-Monial, France. She recorded this request in her autobiography, when Jesus asked her,

“I ask of you that the Friday after the Octave of Corpus Christi be set apart for a special Feast to honor My Heart by communicating (Taking Holy Communion) on  that day and making reparation to It by a solemn act, in order to make amends for the indignities which It has received during the time it has been exposed on the altars.”

  Devotion to the Sacred Heart is an act of reparation for our sins of neglect and indifference toward Jesus, particularly with regard to the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus is calling all of us to receive Holy Communion often. He desires that his followers take Holy Communion. And Jesus continued, saying to St. Margaret Mary,

“I promise you that My Heart shall expand Itself to shed in abundance the influence of Its divine love upon those who shall thus honor It, and cause It to be honored.”

  Our parish is consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. As parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish, we are called to honor His Sacred Heart. We are called to be consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

  In the coming weeks we will be learning more about the Sacred Heart revelations and Jesus’ plans for our involvement. Books and literature will be available. There is a beautiful document in Spanish available on the parish website speaking of Consecration by the faithful to the Sacred Heart. There are also books and articles available for sale in the office. I invite all parishioners to make an effort to learn more about devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as we prepare for our feast day on June 3rd .

La Fiesta del Sagrado Corazon

  El Viernes, 3 de Junio, celebraremos la Festividad del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus. Esta es la festividad de nuestra parroquia, y siempre se celebra en Viernes despues de Corpus Cristi. Tendremos una procesion de Corpus cristi el dia 29 de Mayo.

  La festividad del Sagrado Corazon comenzo cuando Jesus revelo sus instrucciones en una vision a Santa Maria Margarita Alacoque en 1670, en su convento de la Visitacion en Paray-le-Monial, Francia. Ella escribio esta peticion de Jesus a ella en su autobiografia,
 

“Te pido que el Viernes despues de la Octava de Corpus Cristi sea reservado para una celebracion especial en Honor a Mi Corazon comunicando (tomar la Sagrada Comunion) en ese dia y hacer una reparacion por esto en un acto solemne, en reparacion de los pecados que he recibido cuando he estado expuesto sobre los altares.”

  La Devocion al Sagrado Corazon es un acto de reparacion por nuestros pecados de negligencia e indiferencia, particularmente con respecto al Santisimo Sacramento. Jesus nos llama a todos a recibir la Sagrada Comunion con frecuencia. El desea que sus seguidores reciban su Cuerpo y Sangre. Y Jesus continuo diciendole a Santa Maria Margarita,

"Te prometo que Mi Corazón se expandira para derramar abundantemente la influencia de su amor divino sobre aquellos que lo honren, y haga que se le honre”

  Nuestra parroquia esta consagrada al Sagrado Corazon de Jesus. Como parroquianos del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, somos llamados a honrar su Sagrado Corazon. Somos llamados a ser consagrados al Sagrado Corazon de Jesus.

  En las proximas semanas estaremos aprendiendo un poco mas acerca de las revelaciones del Sagrado Corazon y los planes de Jesus para nuestra participacion. Habra libros y literatura disponibles. Hay un hermoso documento disponible en español en la pagina web de nuestra parroquia que habla sobre la Consagracion de los fieles al Sagrado Corazon. Tambien hay libros y articulos disponibles para comprar en la oficina de nuestra parroquia. Les hago una invitacion a todos los parroquianos para que hagan el esfuerzo de aprender un poco mas acerca de la devocion al Sagrado Corazon de Jesus mientras nos preparamos para la festividad el proximo 3 de Junio.
